iJustine New Media Star Dedicates Video Blog To Me

There are a few blogs i read religiously one of which is owned by Justine Ezarik who blogs about Mac products and post viral videos.

Justine resides in Pittsburgh, PA as a freelance graphic/web designer and video editor

She has made more than 200 videos, including satires on such subjects as Lost and parkour, with a span from 2000 views to almost 500,000 views, depending on the content. She is sometimes described as a "new media star".

Justine has also made appearances on Macbreak and works with xtrain creating viral content and social marketing. In addition, you can also find her every Sunday co-hosting GeekRiot.

In December Justine and Desiree (her room mate) participated in the 2006 Yahoo Talent Show contest with judges Tom Green, Ask a Ninja and Maria Sansone where they placed second.

We often get told by mike and annabeth that is important that we comment on blogs and respond to peoples work

I recently commented on one of Justine's blog post, when checking back on her blog today she had dedicated a vlog to me!

Who would of thought it !!!

Video Tutorial

I made this video a while ago. Before we had been give the current video brief to make a tutorial

I was trying to teach myself how to use iMovie but I had no video to edit. To solve this i filmed my self through the various stages of making an egg

It is filmed using the iSight in my MacBook so framing shots and use of the camera was quite difficult

Needless to say both my "acting" skills and iMovie skills leave a lot to be desired

I hope if anyone from my course watches this it may help them out a little

Why Is Hotmail Down ?

More Ipod Touch Instruments

First of all there was the ipod guitar

Now there is this

My predictions are; with apps of this quality coming out if Apple doesn't start releasing apps soon, then more people are going to jailbreak their ipod.

Please Look At This!

If you like web design the CLICK HERE

I think this website is amazing i have looked at the source code it it looks to be written in javascript

I have never seen a site designed like this, i think its a really interesting way to produce a site, the design doesnt make me feel like i am looking at a webpage. I think the full screen option in the top right hand corner is a nice touch.

I think this kind of production would be suitable for a shopping store as you could have different departments and then have products pop out, i kind see this design being a big part of web 2.0

Non Subscribtion HD TV A.K.A Freesat

The BBC and ITV are creating a brand new freeview service offering free HD TV content without having to pay a monthly subscription. There is just a one off payment for the digibox, satellite dish and installation

On the freesat webpage it says there content will include "a huge choice of content including; movies, music, sport, lifestyle, children's, shopping, news and more" but it does not go into any more detail so who knows what they actually have to broadcast in HD (it could be all quiz shows and shopping channels for all we know)

It seems reasonable to believe that all BBC channels as well a ITV1 ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 and CITV will broadcast in HD.

Currently both Channel 4 and five have agreements with Sky which require their channels (with the exception of Film4) to require the use of a "Freesat From Sky" card. This means that you currently need to purchase a card from Sky Subscriber Services Ltd for £20 to watch Channel 4, five, Five US, Five Life and Sky Three.

As for the other non-public service Freeview channels:
1. Ftn, The Hits, TMF, UKTV Bright Ideas, UKTV History are locked into Sky subscription agreements, but obviously it would be to the benefit of Freesat if these channels could be made available to the extra 2.5 million homes.
2. Sky Sports News is a subscription service

Channel 4 told the Guardian that the channel "currently has exclusive [digital satellite] carriage deals in place with Sky Digital for the majority of its channels (other than for Film4, which is broadcast free-to-air). Under the Communications Act we would expect to become subject to obligations to ensure the availability of the core channel on all satellite platforms, which would require that Channel 4 was available on Freesat."

So will C4 and Five be available from launch? It doesn’t seem likely! It is believed that the existing C4 contract, which includes C4, C4+1, C4 HD, E4, E4+1, More4 and More4+1 means they are tied up in contract until Autumn this year. Five, Five Life, Five US and the pending Five HD are in agreement with Sky until early 2009

Freesat is due to launch spring 08

Second Life on TV

Second Life is something we have looked at on our Design for Digital Media course, while reading the trusty Metro (30th of January 2008) on my way to college i came across an article called "Facing up to Reality"

The article was advertisng a program to be aired on BBC 2 called "Wonderland: Virtual Adultery and Cyberspace Love" if you type that title in to Google there are many articles you can read about the program.

Here is a small synopsis about the program;

Carolyn is a 37 year-old mother of four in the midst of a passionate affair. She's spending up to 18 hours a day with her lover online on 'Second Life', the website. She has never met him, but, to her husband of nine year's dismay, she is abandoning her family and flying 5,000 miles to London to start a new life with her lover, Elliot. What makes this website, which has three million members, so compelling?
